Pieces of a City Working Together

Published: 6/18/2010

The Greater Omaha Young Professionals inclusivity subcommittee is reading Peter Block's book "Community: The Structure of Belonging." Featuring the wisdom and insight that Block learned from living and working as a consultant in Cincinnati, Ohio, he acknowledges the deep issues that every city faces - business, schools, nonprofits, faith practices, etc. He invites the reader to consider what it would mean for all of these different pieces of a city's life to actually work together.

The committee is reading the book and discussing it in pieces. This is a deliberate pace that allows people to jump in at any point to discuss what the possibilities could mean for Omaha, to come together and work for the betterment of all - an aspect of inclusion. The group hopes that the book can guide our conversations away from what we've historically heard and move towards a conversation of hope and possibility.

Plan to attend one of the meetings listed below to get in on the discussion, or contact Jara Sturdivant-Wilson for more information!
