Greater Omaha Chamber Supports Extended Bar Hours

Published: 4/16/2010

As a result of feedback the Greater Omaha Chamber received from members, including the Greater Omaha Young Professionals council, the Chamber took an active role in supporting and lobbying for legislation that will allow alcoholic beverages to be served until 2 a.m., providing the local governing body authorizes this change. For the pasts 20 years, this legislation has languished in the legislature, but this year the Chamber and other interests put a new face on the issue which helped it gain broad support from the legislature. The legislature, and Omaha senators in particular, affirmed that this legislation was about our state's image, particularly in attracting and retaining young professionals.

Please take the time to thank senators for their support of LB 861. They need to know that you recognize their efforts to move our state and our community forward. In the future, it is likely that we will ask the legislature to adopt other policies on the agenda of young professionals. Below is contact information for the Omaha senators who supported the final passage of the bill.
